After launch
Liquidity and pools
After this, you'll be able to create and manage your token's liquidity, claim fees, and lock or burn your LP to build trust.
Ballistic manages your token's liquidity pools from the Liquidity tab on the token page. A liquidity pool holds two tokens and lets people trade between them: your token pairs against a quote token, and traders swap the quote token for yours through the pool.
The Liquidity tab is not available for pump.fun, PumpSwap or Bonk tokens; those launchpads manage the pool themselves.
Pool types
On Solana, Ballistic supports five AMM types (an automated market maker is an on-chain program that prices trades from the tokens sitting in a pool):
- Meteora DLMM: Dynamic Liquidity Market Maker.
- Meteora DAMM v2: Dynamic Automated Market Maker.
- Raydium CPMM: Constant Product Market Maker.
- Raydium CLMM: Concentrated Liquidity Market Maker.
- Orca Whirlpools: concentrated liquidity.
On BSC, pools are PancakeSwap v3, with fee tiers of 0.01%, 0.05%, 0.25% (the default) and 1%.
Creating a pool
Open the Liquidity tab, pick the pool type, then pick the quote token to pair against: SOL, USDC or USD1 on Solana. Traders deposit the quote token to buy yours.
Creating a pool deposits your token and the quote token into it. That deposit is the starting liquidity people trade against.
Managing liquidity
Once a pool exists, you run four actions on it from the same dialog:
- Add liquidity: deposit more of your token and the quote token. Deeper liquidity means less price movement per trade.
- Remove liquidity: pull your deposited tokens back out, unless your LP is locked.
- Claim fees: harvest the trading fees the pool has earned. Fees build up in the pool until you claim them.
- Lock or burn LP: restrict or destroy your LP position, covered below.
Your LP (liquidity provider) position is your share of the pool: the tokens you deposited plus the fees they earn.
Locking or burning your LP
Locking your LP shows traders you can't pull the pool's liquidity out from under them. Where the pool supports locking, your LP has three states:
- Unlocked: you can remove liquidity at any time. This is the default.
- Timed: your LP releases at a time you set, and you can't remove liquidity before then. Use this if you want the option to reclaim it later.
- Permanent: your LP is burned and can never be removed. This is irreversible.
A permanent lock is the same as burning the LP. Once it's permanent, no one can pull the liquidity, including you. PancakeSwap v3 pools on BSC have no native lock.
What can go wrong
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The Liquidity tab is greyed out | The token is on pump.fun, PumpSwap or Bonk, which manage their own pool | Nothing to fix. Trade the token from the Trade tab. |
| Locked LP can't be withdrawn | A permanent lock is irreversible by design: burning the LP removes it forever | Nothing recovers a permanent lock. If you want the option to reclaim liquidity, use a timed lock instead. |
| Add liquidity failed | The wallet doesn't hold enough of your token or the quote token to cover the deposit | Fund the wallet with more of either, then add liquidity again. |
| Fees aren't showing | Fees build up inside the pool until you claim them, so they don't appear as a wallet balance | Run Claim fees to move them into your wallet. |
