Community takeover
After this, you'll be able to take over a live token by sniping its supply across your wallets in three steps.
A CTO (community takeover) is when you buy up the supply of an existing, already-live token across your own wallets in a coordinated snipe. You don't create a new token: you bring a token that is already trading into Ballistic and buy it with your buyer wallets in one move.
On Solana, CTO works on pump.fun tokens (on the curve, or on PumpSwap after graduation) and on Meteora pools. On Robinhood Chain it works on Noxa and flap tokens. Buys are made in the pool's quote asset: SOL on pump.fun, SOL, USD1 or USDC on Meteora, and ETH on Robinhood Chain.
Before you start
- Have the contract address of the live token you want to take over.
- Have funds for the snipe in the launch's funding wallet.
The three steps
Import the token
Paste the contract address of the live token into the import field. Ballistic pulls the token in and makes it available for a takeover.
Buy caps
Each launchpad sets a maximum you can buy. On pump.fun, that limit is the bonding-curve cap (about 85 SOL, the point at which the token graduates off the curve). If your buy amount is above the cap, lower it until it fits.
What can go wrong
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Setup rejected | The token is not in a state you can take over | Re-import the token by pasting the contract address again, then try the setup once more. |
| Snipe didn't fire | The sniper wallets aren't funded, so there is nothing to buy with | Complete the setup step first. It funds your sniper wallets from the launch's funding wallet. Then snipe. |
| Buy capped | Your buy amount is above the launchpad's maximum, such as the bonding-curve cap on pump.fun | Lower your buy amount until it fits under the cap, then snipe again. |
